DOD Identifies Navy Casualty
P.O Zarian Wood KIA 16 May 2010
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Petty Officer Zarian Wood, 29, of Houston, Texas, died May 16 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device blast while on dismounted patrol. Wood was assigned as a hospital corpsman to Third Battalion, First Marine Regiment, First Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force.

I served two tours in Iraq with 3/1…I didn't know you, but my heart is honeslty heavy. I got out of the Marines maybe a year and some change ago and now regret it because of things like this. I hear of people getting killed and out of anger I want to rejoin and go back to fight along side of great Americans like yourself. You are never forgotten brother. To the families of 3/1: thank you for supporting your loved ones overseas; although at times it is tough, in the end it is all an unselfish act that was done out of thier own will to keep this country great. Unfortunately, you have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Semper Fi Marines and Sailors and keep fighting hard and thank you. 3/1 Hard
Corpsman put me back together twice with B1/5 and now daughter and son-in-law are both current HM3's with several deployments each. We all need to take a knee when any one of ours goes down .. SF HM3 Wood! God keep you son!
My heart goes out to his family and friends. My corpsman son just got these a couple of weeks ago and I my heart skipped a beat when I heard of this. I can't imagine getting this news. How very proud his family must be of him. May he rest in peace.

HM3 Wood was a Dental Tec out of Naval Hospital Fort Worth. He was born in Houston, TX. Good Bless him and all our brothers out there.
I had the honor to work with HM3 Wood. He gave me his famous bean recipe. I will miss him.
I am here in 3/1's AO as an attachment with the Border Police Mentor Team, they are dedicating the BAS in FOB Delhi the HM3 Wood Memorial Clinic in Doc Wood's honor…I will post pics of the dedication when it happens.
HM3 worked under our branch health clinics (NAS Corpus Christi), I never got to meet him but his loss is greatly felt in the Corpsman Community.

I never met P.O. Wood, but I just got back from PB Jaker,Nawa District in Dec with 4th CAG,1/5 Charlie, but I believe Zarian was one of our reliefs.
Zarian, may you rest R.I.P. and guide our brothers at FOBs Apache,Cherokee/PB Jaker,Delhi,Delarum,Fiddler's Green,Geronimo, and every other area.
Zarian, man may you rest in peace. I am currently out here in Afghanistan and heard about you coming through our Role 3 Hospital. We deployed together to Iraq and I got you home safe once…. sorry I couldn't do it again brother…

You could have posted a better picture to honor HM3.
I didn't personally know Petty Officer Woods but I was at Bagram, Hospital when he passed on. I saw many patients working at the hospital but he was the one that stuck out the most and touched my heart in so many ways. My prayers go out to his family, friends and unit.
I still can't believe you're gone, buddy. We're all heading to Joe's when we get back.
