RIP HM3 Swink. We were stationed in Okinawa together although i did not know him personally it hurts to hear of another corpsman who gave their life. I am very grateful for your dedication and service. You will be missed but never forgotton. You made the ultimate sacrifice for which makes me proud to be a part of the armed services and also a part of the Corpsman family. My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family. He is now home and in a better place.
I truly respect and honor his commitment to his country, band of brothers, and family for giving his all and all he had. His name shall forever be a prime example of the Corpsman pledge. I am a fellow HM3 stationed and attached to the Marines here at Parris Island. The only difference is I am on a platform that is non-deployable. I work with Marines all day, every day, so I know what it is like to do all you can for your Marines. Thank you HM3 Swink and may you now take that walk hand-n-hand with our Heavenly Father and save a place for those of us who will also make the ultimate sacrifice in life. God Bless your family and may the Heavenly Father ease their minds and hearts at this juncture in life. To his family and friends that may read this, always remember, “After the smoke, there's always clean air.” GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!
I knew Swink in Corps School good guy all around. R.I.P Doc from all the Corpsman at MARSOC.

Before 2/9 he also had a family in US Naval Hospital Okinawa where we had the honor to work with him (DBC Corpsman and ER/EMT Corpsman). All he wanted was to get orders with Division – his passion.

August 26, I read and I cried. God Bless Navy Corpsman. God Bless the parents of HM3 James M. Swink and his family. These Navy Corpsman are the bravest, unselfish heroes we Americans have. And we only have a few of them. God Bless these men and women who risk all to save the lives of United States Marines and Sailors. No one in this world calls out the word “Doc” with more reverance and respect than the United States Marine who has been through hell. Lets not forget how many lives “Doc” Swink saved and sent home to their families before he gave his life up. Continue to respect the roots and community where Doc came from. Embrace the family for this precious gift they have given our troops. For it will continue to make all the difference in who we are and how we see ourselves as Americans. Please remember how Doc lived, how he loved life, how he shared what was important, and the joy he brought to everyone. The lost will always be painful, but what he left us with, if we never forget will help to heal this wound. God Bless this son of God. God Bless the Swink family. SgtMaj MJ Sanchez (USMC Ret 1973-2003)

As the mother of a Corpsman, I am saddened by the loss of HM3 Swink. I am thankful for his service and sacrifice. My prayer for friends and family is that God will give you a peace and comfort at this time. May God bless you.
What a beautiful young man. My heart physically aches for his mother….as the mother of a corpsman of exactly the same age as Doc Swink, I am ever mindful this could have been my son, or the son of many of my friends. May he rest in peace, and may his family eventually find peace…
He looked alot like you Jim when we were young on the JFK. I'm sure he was a fine man like his daddy. Mikey, I'll see you soon some day and I'll tell some sea stories of your ol man back in the day. Untill then, fair winds and following seas and may God smile on all of us.
All thru field med during buddie carries and patient drags you were my partner. You will be missed a great petty officer, an example to your junior corpsman and will be missed greatley you can rest now Devil Doc HN Banner
What a great guy! I remember meeting him through my husband, it was when he accepted the assignment to drive an ambulance for his last duty station. He was so excited and posted so many pics of that ambulance on a social networking site, boy was he a great photographer! I saw him at the grocery store about a week later in that ambulance, and when he got out, he looked back at the ambulance with such a proud look on his face. He had his camera with him, too. I spoke to him and didn't expect him to remember me but he called me by name and said you're HM2 ____ wife! I was happy he remembered. He then handed me his camera and asked if I could take a pic of him standing near the ambulance. I proudly offered. He then asked to help me with my groceries and after he was done helping, he bid me farewell and waited for his co worker to exit the store. That was the last time I seen him and he will truly be missed.
I wish there were enough words to express the sympathy I feel for the family and friends of this young man as they mourn their loss. As the mother of a fellow corpsman, my heartbreaks every time we have to post these memorial pages.
Thank you for your sacrafice Doc. Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate.

My husband was a “Doc”, and now my daughter and son-in-law serve the Navy with pride, as “Docs”. My sincere condolences to the family of HM3 Swink, and all his brothers and sisters at arms. DMRF, US Army.
i was with 2/9 right as HM3 arrived, i moved on to a new unit. i never got to know him but i know friends and fellow corpsman who did. it not about what you take with you but about what you leave behind. and it seems from all the comments i have read, that you leave behind a legacy of honor and your friends and family and people like myself who never really knew you have an undying appreciation for what you sacrificed and we love you for it.
RIP HM3 Swink
HM3 Swink was one of the squad leaders for our Fleet Marine Force/CREST class this Spring at Camp LeJeune, NC. He was an outstanding individual that helped to keep the platoon functioning. As a CPO in the class I was doing my best to let the PO2s and PO3s lead and guide them as I could and he was one of those who took charge and led. I felt he was one of the better overall HMs in the class and platoon. Hearing of his death through other classmates and fellow RPs made my heart ache. To his family and friends know this: I truly believe he died doing what he wanted, that was serving his country and trying to make a difference in this world. HM3 Swink will truly be missed. My only regret is not getting to know him better in the short time I was able to spend in his presence. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
